Ronald Koeman faces the difficult task of selecting a team for the second of three fixtures in a week as Everton look to progress in Europe. His job has been made more difficult with injuries to Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaassen, the two summer recruits joining James McCarthy on the treatment table.
Koeman has spoken about selecting a strong side and the second half of last weeks match at Goodison against Hajduk demonstrated that Everton will need to be at their best to ensure a smooth passage into Friday’s group stage draw. With that in mind we expect Rooney to start once again, with Gana and Schniederlin joined in midfield by Tom Davies. Calvert-Lewin did more than enough on Monday night to earn a starting place, although Koeman may choose to rest him and give Ademola Lookman the a starting role.
