It’s hilarious.
At the time of writing, we’ve announced two new player signings, spending £50m in the process, we may well have signed another for a 10th of that sum, and yet, oh yes and yet, we have some fans anxious we’re not making more moves for new players.
Check your calendar. It’s still June.
Just in case you’ve forgotten, because given all the transfer activity at Everton and a bit at others, you’d be forgiven, the transfer window officially opens on 1st July. But that appears farcical given deals that have been completed, deals that are close to completion, and deals expected to be made before that date. And that’s just at Everton.
Everton. Us. Everton. In June. The last minute scrabbling we’re used to seems to be over for at least a while, and we can bask in the glory of being transfer pace setters, at least for now, and mighty fine it feels too.
Signs of positive intent from Moshiri and Koeman, and probably Billy K too if we’re being generous, all designed to position Everton as a go-ahead Club, that others will want to be a part of. That may, or probably may not, include Lukaku and Barkley, but frankly I can’t be bothered to write any words about them, it’s all been said. Stay and I’ll support you; go, and you’ll leave with my best wishes for your uncertain future (especially Ross).
For once, I’m checking my twitter feed to see who we’ve actually signed, not who we’re “linked with”. Joyous times.
