Phil Jagielka will be sidelined for around two months after picking up a knee injury during Saturdays defeat to Arsenal at The Emirates. Everton’s captain has damaged his medial ligament and Roberto Martinez said: “The medial ligament is affected and it’s an injury that is quite straightforward. At the moment we are going to make sure he gets the right course of treatment. I wouldn’t expect anything longer than eight to nine weeks.”
The boss also said that apart from the injured Jagielka and suspended Gareth Barry, he will have the same squad available to face Norwich City in the Capital One Cup game on Tuesday: “Everyone that went to Arsenal apart from Gareth Barry and Phil Jagielka – one through suspension, one through injury – are fit, available and pushing to be part of the squad. I just feel Leighton Baines, Tony Hibbert and Steven Pienaar will need a little bit longer before being considered for the squad.”
Shame about Jags but Mori did well when he came on! Not a single mention of Cleverly, Besic (is he still at EFC), Osman (same again) and Gibbo (Is he injured again or gone for a mad drive?) Come on Roberto give us a proper update!
