As we build up to the Goodison derby we thought it was the perfect time to look back at a classic Everton victory over Liverpool. With Andy King sadly passing away earlier this year, we decided there was no better derby to feature than Everton’s 1-0 victory over the Kopites from 1978.
Everton and Liverpool were both unbeaten in the league when the two sides met on 28th October 1978. The reds had made an incredible start to the season winning 10 of their opening 11 matches and with Everton tucked in behind their Merseyside rivals in second place the stage could not have been set any better.
