Tom Cleverley will be out of action for around the next eight weeks after suffering ligament damage to his right leg during the 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur. Roberto Martinez revealed the exact amount of time Cleverley will be sidelined for is still to be determined but that thankfully there is no fracture following a challenge by Spurs’ Eric Dier.
“We have mixed feelings because we feared the worst when that challenge happened” said Martinez. “We thought that it was a fracture and to have a fracture at this stage of the season for Tom would have been devastating because his form has been terrific. He has got ligament damage and the next step will be to see how long he is going to be out.”
In other injury news, Bryan Oviedo will miss Costa Rica’s next two friendlies after picking up a knee injury. He suffered a knock against Barnsley during last weeks Capital One Cup match and again against Spurs three days later. Oviedo is expected to be out for around ten days.
