The end of this week also ended speculation about two of Everton’s players as both James McCarthy and Kevin Mirallas put pen to paper on new contracts. McCarthy signing was announced on Thursday and Mirallas’ announcement was made on Friday. Both players had been linked with other Premier League teams over the last couple of months.
McCarthy is now tied up for the next five years and was very excited to put all of the rumours to bed.
‘I’m buzzing and delighted to be committing my future long-term to Everton. I’ve loved every minute I’ve been here, with the fans having made me feel so welcome from day one, as well as the players and staff”
Mirallas only had one year left on his current contract with Everton having the ability to extend that by one more year. He has signed a new contract which is for three years.
Chances of them moving: 0%
Did I want it to happen:100%
McCarthy has been the driving force as the passion and fire of Everton’s midfield ever since he joined the Blues. He has learned well from Barry and my hope would be that he begins to develop a partnership with Besic and Cleverly over the next few years. He is still young and has many solid years ahead of him in the royal blue.
Mirallas has been hot and cold but gives us a definite attacking threat. His goals per game ratio is quite good and staying fit will only improve his impact for the team.

I am a testament to the fact that Evertonians are born. My first matches were spent sitting on one of the crush bars in the Gladwys Street end watching the Holy Trinity weaving their magic on their way to the league championship in 1970. After moving to Canada it was hard to stay connected but the popularity of the game has increased and the internet now allows me to see every game live and keep up with all things Everton.
