Rumours are circulating to suggest that Everton are in advanced talks to sign Wigan Athletic midfield player, James McArthur. The Scottish international has been at Wigan Athletic since 2010 and was a firm favourite of current Everton boss Roberto Martinez during his time at the DW.
Aged 26, McArthur would provide the Blues injury hit squad with a much-needed boost, with Gareth Barry and James McCarthy shouldering the majority of the workload in Everton’s midfield.
The former Hamilton Academical player joined Wigan for £500,000. No transfer fee has been mentioned as yet, but his stock has risen considerably since he made the move down from Scotland.
The news breaks despite Martinez hinting previously that Lacina Traore would be the only remaining piece of transfer business in the window, but the opportunity to sign one of his former trusted players would appear to good an opportunity for the Spanish manager to turn down.
I don’t know if this a runner or not, but,I thought Callum McManaman was supposed to be a target, wasn’t he? Sure you’ve got the right Mc Pie eater.
Don’t think this is a runner – it was reported he was at finch farm – though it was for the purposes of completing his UEFA training badges, which was running at the time
He was at finch farm regarding his coaching badge, nothing more.
Shouldn’t Everton Athletic be spending money on sorting out that horrible ground? Wooden seats in this day and age?
