Goodison Gossip – Martinez to go back for Tom Ince
There are a number of rumours suggesting that Everton may make another move to sign former Liverpool trainee Tom Ince during the January transfer window. The Blackpool winger, who can also operate centrally, is enjoying another fine season and with his contract set to expire in the summer there are a number of clubs chasing his signature.
Ince is a regular with the England u21s and as such is attracting interest from a number of top European clubs, including his fathers former side, Inter Milan. Should Ince decide to let his contract expire, any English club interested in signing the 21-year-old would still be required to pay a transfer fee, with Blackpool due compensation for their development costs. It is rumoured that the Seasiders will push for a figure close to £5m, although it is highly unlikely a tribunal would set such a high fee.
Martinez has been an admirer of Ince for sometime and he would provide competition for Mirallas, Pienaar and Deulofeu, who may or may not return to Barcelona in the summer. Lightning quick, Ince has an excellent eye for goal and has scored 30 league goals in 90 appearances for Blackpool.
