We are delighted to announced that the inaugural winner of the St Dom-index player of the month is Ross Barkley. The Everton academy graduate has started the season in sparking form and it is no surprise that he has come out on top of our new rating system.
With one goal and a couple of man of the match performances, Barkley has been the stand out player of the Roberto Martinez reign. His outstanding start to the season was rewarded with his first call up to the full England international set up, with Barkley looking to impress Roy Hodgson in training as he seeks his international debut in this weekends international at Wembley.
The score in the graphic is based on the four competitive matches played to date, including the Capital One Cup tie with Stevenage. Each player received a score for each game they played, which was then averaged over the number of games they featured. Any player who played less than half of the months fixtures, has not received a rating.
Please let us have your comments. Do you agree with the ratings? Who has been your player of the month?
After each game, the St Domingo’s team provide a brief review of the match with performance ratings for each player. Each month these ratings will be used to decide the St Domingo’s player of the month and at the end of the season, player and young player of the year. Please let us have your comments and feedback.
