Duncan Ferguson – Video Special (Part 1)

For Evertonians of a certain generation, Duncan Ferguson is seen as a cult figure. Signed from Glasgow Rangers in 1994, Duncan Ferguson became an instant hero when he scored against Liverpool in a 2-0 victory over our Merseyside neighbours. We have put together 10 of his greatest games in a two-part series.

Everton 2-0 Liverpool – November 1994

Ferguson scored Everton’s first to set the Blues on the way to a 2-0 victory over Liverpool.

Everton 1-0 Manchester United – February 1995

Everton secured their first home victory over Manchester United for 6 years with a 1-0 win over the defending Champions. Duncan Ferguson scored Everton’s goal with a towering header past Peter Schmeichel.

Wimbledon 2-3 Everton – January 1996

After spending 6 weeks in Barlinnie jail, Ferguson was determined to make up for lost time and scored 2 goals in this 3-2 victory over Wimbledon.

Everton 2-0 Newcastle United – August 1996

Ferguson failed to score in this game, but destroyed Newcastle’s defence, pulling them apart to set up a 2-0 win over title hopefuls Newcastle.

Manchester United 2-2 Everton – August 1996

Duncan Ferguson continued his electric start to the season by firing Everton into a 2 goal lead against the defending Champions, only to be pegged back in the second half with the game ending 2-2.
