We continue our build up to the weekends FA Cup Quarter Final with a look back to 1995, the year the Blues last lifted the famous trophy.
After thrashing Norwich in the previous round, Everton were given a tough Quarter Final draw against Kevin Keegan’s high flying Magpies. Newcastle were on a crest of a wave at the time and were many people’s favorites to lift the cup. In contrast, Everton were in the midst of a relegation battle, with Everton old boy Joe Royle appointed to rescue the Blues from a terrible start to the season.
On the day the atmosphere was electric and Everton, buoyed by the crowd, were victorious thanks to a little bit of good fortune, some poor finishing from Newcastle and a brilliant headed goal from Dave Watson. Sit back and enjoy extended highlights from the game. The match is split in two, video one is highlights of the first half, with video two detailing the second half action.
