With Everton travelling to Bolton this weekend for an FA Cup 4th Round tie we look back at some classic 4th Round action courtesy of our YouTube channel.
Our first match takes us back to 1984 and a match against Gillingham. Howard Kendall had transformed Everton and the club were in search of honours for the first time since the League title in 69-70. Gillingham were a 3rd Division side and had taken Everton to a second replay, however Everton were a growing force and blew away Gillingham as they marched on towards Wembley and eventual Cup Glory.
Our Second video takes us to the 1987-88 season and a 4th Round match up against Middlesbrough. This was also a second replay and unbelievably was Everton’s 7th FA Cup match of the season, as 4 attempts were required to dispose of Sheffield Wednesday in the 3rd Round. A late own goal by current Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray gave Everton a 2-1 win at Goodison.
