With the snow falling across the country, Evertonians face the longest trip of the season to the South Coast to face Southampton for a Monday night clash in front of the sky cameras.
Earlier in the season, Everton came from one behind to defeat Nigel Adkins Southampton by 3 goals to 1, with goals from Osman and Jelavic (2). Southampton have certainly improved since then and after securing a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in midweek will be full of confidence for the visit of Everton.
David Moyes will be hoping to name an unchanged line up, but may have Kevin Mirallas back available, after the Belgium returned to full training, however the manager is likely to ease him back in, so expect Mirallas to start from the bench.
Our XI to start: Howard, Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Neville, Osman, Anichebe, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jelavic.
Our archive footage this week comes direct from our very own and recently launched YouTube Channel, as we look back at our visit to Southampton during the 1990-91 season. At this time, Southampton were still playing their home matches at The Dell, a bizarre little football ground, with uneven stands and terraces popping up in unexpected places. This was a real classic encounter, with 7 goals shared between the two sides and the Toffee’s eventually coming out on top.
