Everton 2-1 Wigan Athletic
Everton deservedly took all three points, however defensive lapses almost cost the blues another victory.
Goals from Leon Osman and Philip Jagielka had put Everton two goals to the good and from there Everton should have coasted home. However as per many occasions this season Everton let the opposition find a way back into the game, either through a lack of concentration or just poor play.
If there is one area David Moyes needs to focus January transfer activity it needs to be at the back. Serious competition for Tim Howard is required and a reliable partner for Phil Jagielka at centre back is essential. With Joleon Lescott out of favour at Manchester City a loan deal could tempt Mancini into releasing the ex Evertonian to reignite his formidable partnership with Jagielka.
