Two days later and I am still flying high. The Blues were quite simply superb. It is often said you need 9 or 10 players to be at their very best to beat a side as good as United. I think it is fair to say, every player in blue was on top of their game on Monday night.
The Goodison crowd was as loud as I can remember for quite sometime. The noise, the songs, the hysteria. At times it was difficult to hear a word the person next to you was saying. New boy Kevin Mirallas, commented on Tuesday that he was impressed with the positivity displayed by the Goodison faithful. If this is maintained against the Premier League’s lesser lights, then most teams will come away from Goodison with nothing more than a good hiding.
The feel good factor around the club has risen 10 notches after Monday, the key now is to continue to feed off this. Villa away on Saturday and the Blues will travel full of confidence. Expectation is that the Toffee’s will return with the points, if they play anywhere near as good as Monday night, a Villa side clearly in transition could suffer a mauling.
